Yes, it can. The manufacturer and age of the winch is not of primary importance.
Do I need my own radio to operate the auxiliary winch?
Primarily, we are looking to integrate our winch system into the existing one. The Tod Mann functions are intended for this purpose, such as: throttle + / -, tower height adjustment, start/stop if necessary if these functions are not assigned and are assigned by means of a toggle switch that returns to the neutral position.
What do I need for operation if I still have gas +/- free, for example?
Generally speaking, you need: WINDE + bracket + cable + pulley set + hydraulic block + hydraulic hose.
Will the pulling power be sufficient if my winch has a 12 mm rope?
Yes, this will be sufficient in regular operation and has successfully been tested by us in practice since 2014.
Can I also use the winch in professional applications?
Yes, absolutely. Because this is where you experience first-hand, day after day, how much easier the winch makes your work. We now also equip harvesters, skidders and the like with them.
Can I break something if I want to pull small wood with it?
In principle not, but this winch was built exclusively for use as an auxiliary winch for pulling ropes -> if you want a small winch for weak timber or initial fostering, please take a look at our SAPI winch.
Can I pull the forestry chains directly with the rope?
Yes, of course. Our winch was built to be fast, efficient and, above all, gentle on the body.
Can I also use a steel cable?
Theoretically yes, but in practice it has become obvious that a plastic rope (originally HAFO) makes operation much easier and therefore simpler.
Can I use my own synthetic rope?
We strongly recommend not to do this.
We offer a special Dynema CAT 2 rope with our own diameter developed for this purpose.
What do I do in rocky terrain if the synthetic rope breaks?
This is precisely one of the advantages of our synthetic rope compared to a steel cable, as it can be spliced, We work a lot in rocky terrain ourselves and have only made positive experiences.
Does the winch have a freewheel?
No, it doesn’t. We actively release the rope in both directions. This offers the advantage that you really don't have to pull any weight from the rope up the mountain. Another benefit is the possibility to control the actual wind rope much better later on in the process.
Which hydraulic connection do I need?
A single-acting one, with unpressurised return flow, via our hydraulic block. It also works with double-acting ones. All you need to do is connect it correctly, "T" to return.
